Place: Shaftesbury Court, Shoreditch, London

Lloyd Simpson was shot in the head and stomach at his home.

It was thought that he had been shot on the Saturday 5 November 1983. He was found by his father on Monday 7 November 1983.

He was last seen alive by a friend at about 1.30pm on the 5november 1983 on the canal towpath.

His assailants had kicked the door in to his flat and gone in and shot him twice.

The police said that they thought that he had been killed for something that he had had in his possession such as drugs, noting that his flat had been thoroughly searched in a frenzied way.

The police said that Lloyd Simpson's assailants would have been able to have seen him through the window at the front of his flat.

He had been sitting on his sofa at the time watching the television and the police said that they didn't think that he had been expecting anyone.

On the night that he had been killed, fireworks night, 5 November 1983, there had been a lot of fireworks going off and it was thought that the gunshots in his flat might have been lost amongst the fireworks that were going on that night.

The police said that they were extremely interested in finding out why he was murdered in the first place, stating that that would be a big step forward in helping them identify who did it.
