Andre Mizelas

Age: 48

Sex: male

Date: 9 Nov 1970

Place: Hyde Park, London

Andre Mizelas was shot twice in the head with a .25 handgun.

He was a wealthy royal hairdresser and part owned 20 salons employing 400 staff.

He was found shot dead in his Triumph TR5 sports car in Hyde Park. Tests indicated that he had been shot from outside the car with one or both doors open from the passenger side.

Robbery was not considered a motive. It is not known whether someone was travelling with him at the time, whether he had met someone or had been flagged down.

One woman said that she had been driving behind him at the time he stopped saying she saw a man leap from the bushes and wave down the car. She said 'He stopped so suddenly that I had to brake to avoid crashing into the rear of his car.'

A private detective said that he had made an appointment with Andre Mizelas for the day after he was shot. He said 'We spoke on the telephone last Friday and he said he wanted two men kept under surveillance. We arranged to meet at his London salon in Old Bond Street but he was shot dead 24 hours before our appointment. He was going to tell me their names but would not give details over the telephone'
