Stephen Akinyemi was shot in the head during a struggle at a man's house.
The man was tried for his murder but acquitted. He said that Stephen Akinyemi had pulled a gun out on him and that he had grappled with him and shot him in self-defence.
However, an open verdict was returned at his inquest after the Coroner expressed doubts over the man's version of events.
The inquest into Stephen Akinyemi's death was opened again in 2017 after fresh evidence emerged stating that Stephen Akinyemi was allegedly a police informant and that the man that he had been to see was under police surveillance at the time and that the police might have known what was going to happen.
Evidence stated that Stephen Akinyemi had been wearing a stab proof vest at the time.
Stephen Akinyemi was said to have been a suspected gangster.
