Paul McMillan

Age: 19

Sex: male

Date: 12 Oct 2006

Place: Valence Avenue, Dagenham

Paul McMillan was stabbed in Dagenham as he was walking his girlfriend home.

In October 2006 three teenagers were charged with his murder but there are no known trial results or convictions.

He had been stabbed at the corner of Valence Avenue and Valance Wood Road

He was stabbed twice in the chest.

His girlfriend said that the youths had initially stopped them and asked Paul McMillan whether his name was Paul which he denied. She said that one of the youths then said 'If I find out you're Paul I'm going to shoot you'. After that Paul McMillan called his sister on his phone who offered him a lift but he turned it down.

Paul McMillan then picked up a metal bar from a rubbish bin and challenged the youths. One of the youths then hit Paul McMillan with a cosh and then another stabbed him. His girlfriend was also hit in the face with the cosh. She said that the youth that had stabbed Paul McMillan had run off along Bonham Road but that the youth with the cosh had continued to beat him with it before then running off.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

The police said that his attackers were described as white men in their late teens or early 20s and that one of them had been about 6ft or 6ft 1in tall, slim with short dark hair and wearing a navy blue tracksuit jersey top, possibly with a hood and a Nike logo on the left-hand side, while the other youth had been about 5ft 10in with short blond hair, with a local Dagenham accent and wearing a dark grey tracksuit with diagonal stripes on the tracksuit bottoms from the knee down.

Paul McMillan was a fencer.
