Opinderpal Singh Randhawa

Age: 23

Sex: male

Date: 28 Dec 2010

Place: Elliman Avenue, Slough, Berkshire

Opinderpal Singh Randhawa was stabbed following an argument over a photograph during a celebration at a house in Elliman Avenue, Slough, on 28 December 2010.

A main suspect, his cousin, fled after the stabbing. It was reported in October 2014 that he had been arrested in Amritsar, India, but nothing more is known.

Opinderpal Randhawa had a row with his cousin after a photo of his cousin was taken whilst he was drinking whisky by Opinderpal Randhawa's mother. They were said to have rowed over it and that the cousin then stabbed Opinderpal Randhawa once in the stomach with a kitchen knife and fled the country.

The man was thought to have gone to Luton and then to Europe and was thought to have later been arrested in Amritsar, India in October 2014.

At Opinderpal Randhawa's inquest in April 2012, it was heard that Opinderpal Randhawa and his cousin had been celebrating a friends upcoming wedding in December 2010 at their home in Elliman Avenue, Slough, Berkshire, and that they called relatives in India on Skype during which the cousin was photographed drinking by his aunt and that he became concerned about the embarrassment and shame that it would bring to his mother if she saw it. It was said that he then argued over the ramifications of the photo with Opinderpal Randhawa, who told him that everyone in India knew that he drank, and then stabbed him and fled the scene.

Opinderpal Randhawa was taken to hospital where he later died.

Other members of the group that had been out celebrating initially told the police that Opinderpal Randhawa had injured himself by slipping and falling on some glass.

Opinderpal Randhawa died from haemorrhage of an arterial blood vessel due to the stab wound.

The cousin was from Amritsar and the local police there had received warrants for his arrest in 2012 from Interpol in case he went there and following his arrested it was reported that extradition proceedings were underway.

Opinderpal Randhawa and his cousin had shared a house in Elliman Avenue, Slough.
