Ivy Bottoms was found dead at her home in Birch Avenue, Haslingden on 28 August 1983.
She had been beaten to death after returning home from a game of bingo on the Saturday night, 27 August 1983.
It was thought that she might have been murdered because she knew the identity of the intruder that broke into her home. The police noted that an intruder could have easily escaped from her, noting that there was no need to murder her.
It was thought that she had probably been killed for a few pounds in cash.
A 16-year-old was charged with her murder, but nothing more is known.
