Robin Charles Wood

Age: 47

Sex: male

Date: 2 May 1998

Place: Kempton Drive, Racecourse Estate, Northolt, West London

Robin Wood was shot in the neck with a sawn-off shotgun on his doorstep in Kempton Avenue on the Racecourse Estate in Northolt.

He had been a car dealer and had a conviction for armed robbery.

A man called at his house at 10.40pm on 2 May 1998 and his partner answered it. She said that a man calling himself Terry then asked to speak to Robin Wood and that as Robin Wood walked towards the door the man shot him in the neck.

Robin Wood died at the scene.

The man was described as being aged between 25 and 35 years old, about 5ft 7in tall and having a slim build. He was said to have been wearing an unzipped dark-coloured anorak. The police released a photofit of him which was published in the newspapers.

After the shooting the man ran off along Kempton Avenue and into Ascot Close where it was believed that he had a car waiting.

The police later said that they thought that his murder might have been a contract shooting. The police also said that they had not ruled out that the murder had been drugs related.

It was reported that Robin Wood had been receiving threatening phone calls prior to his killing.

Robin Wood had been watching television at the time and after being called to the door by his partner and being shot, he was seen by his 10-year-old son who had just come down the stairs, dying in the hall.

Robin Wood was said to have lived in a former council house with his partner and his 10-year-old son and her two children, a boy and a girl, and had done so for the previous six years.
