Four men had jumped out of a blue Ford Transit van as Anthony Lawler got out of his car near a chip shop at the Middlemass Hey shopping parade in Netherley at 6.30pm and chased him and shot him down as he crossed over some waste ground.

The blue Ford Transit van was later found burnt out in Woolton Park at the junction with Winhill in Liverpool.
