Larry Malone

Age: 24

Sex: male

Date: 3 Sep 2009

Place: Harpenden Road, West Norwood

Larry Malone was shot through the living room window of his aunt's flat.

Several people were tried in connection with his murder but acquitted.

He had also been shot four times in 2006 in Brixton and nearly died then.

On 3 September 2009, just after midnight, a gunman fired seven shots through an open window at his aunt's flat with a Mac-10 machine gun. The gun fired seven bullets before it jammed.

Larry Malone was shot in the forehead but a man that had been sat next to Larry Malone on a sofa at the time was not hurt.

Two people were arrested the following day near a petrol station in Anerley Park, south London with the gun hidden inside a sports bag in a white van. A woman was seen getting out of a taxi with a JD Sports bag that had the gun in it wrapped up in a Gingham dress and then give it to the man in the van. The police arrested them shortly after. The woman had been the girlfriend of one of the men that had been tried for the murder.

At the trial the prosecution said that the two men on trial, who had been friends of Larry Malone, had fired the gun through the open sash window and then afterward given it to the people who were found in possession of it the following day.

When the gun was recovered, it was found to still be loaded and to have a round jammed in its chamber.

His friend said that he had no idea who had shot Larry Malone but did say that Larry Malone had had an argument the day before with a man known as Fox about drugs.

Five people were convicted of charges relating to the possession of the machine-gun and sentenced to 5 to11 years each. However, no one was found guilty of Larry Malone's murder.
