Omar Watson

Age: 24

Sex: male

Date: 7 Nov 2003

Place: Nefertitis Secret Hair Salon, Peveril Street, Radford

Omar Watson was shot at the Nefertitis Secret Hair Salon on Peveril Street on 7 November 2003 at about 1pm.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where he died from a single gunshot wound.

He had previously been injured in another shooting in August 2003. At the time of the earlier shooting the police had said that they didn't think that he had been deliberately targeted.

After the second shooting, the police found a big black wig with red tints outside the salon on the ground that had ordinarily been on a mannequin in the salon and was thought to have either been grabbed by the gunman or become caught up in his clothes as he left.

The police said that they were interested in speaking to a young girl, aged around 16-17 who had gone into the salon shortly before the shooting.

It was thought that his murder had been gang and drug related.

He had been having his hair cut at the time in the unisex hair saloon and was due the following day to give evidence against the two men that had been accused of attempting to shoot him in the previous shooting.

The police said that they met a wall of silence during the investigation. It was thought that several people knew the identity of the murderer but were too scared to tell the police.

Omar Watson had been born in Jamaica and was also known as Noel Rydenna. He had lived in Top Valley and had a child.
