Marvin Hogan

Marvin Hogan was stabbed in Thornhill Gardens, Leyton on 4 June 2012.

He was found stabbed in the street at 9.40pm and taken to the Royal London Hospital but died a few hours later in the early hours of the following day, 5 June 2012. The 4 June 2012 had been a Bank Holiday Monday.

His post-mortem stated that the cause of death was a stab wound to the heart. He had been stabbed on the pavement underneath an archway entrance to an estate and then left.

He had earlier been sitting in his silver Vauxhall Astra car in Windsor Road when he was confronted by some men. There was a row during which someone in the group took Marvin Hogan's keys and Marvin Hogan then got out of his car to get them back and went into Thornhill Gardens where he was stabbed. It was also reported that he might have been chased into Thornhill Gardens.

Seven people were later arrested in relation to his murder, but no one was charged.

The police said that Marvin Hogan's keys were for his car and flat and that when they examined the scene they found that they were still missing and said that they wanted to find them. They said that the keyring had a Vauxhall Astra car key, an electronic fob for entry into Marvin Hogan’s flat, a red piece of plastic and a silver cross that was black on one side.

The police said that they didn't think that his murder was gang related.

Three men that were seen near the scene and considered suspects were described as:

• Black man with dark skin, aged 20-25, about 5ft 10in tall. Had been wearing a red baseball cap with a logo at the front and a black body warmer with a 6in red band on the front.
• Black man with dark skin, aged 20-25, with an oval chubby face, about 5ft 9in tall. Had been wearing a quilted Barbour-style coat with silver on it and had had his hair styled with cane rows.
• Black man with dark skin, aged 20-25, that had been wearing dark clothing.

It was also said that one of the men scene at the time had had a scarf on and had had a bag over his shoulder.

The police said that they were also interested in identifying another person that had helped Marvin Hogan shortly after he was stabbed by putting his rucksack under Marvin Hogan's head and who had waited with Marvin Hogan until the ambulance had arrived. The man was described as being white and the rucksack that he had put under Marvin Hogan's head was his.

The police said, 'Marvin Hogan was stabbed to death whilst he tried to retrieve his car keys from a group of men who stole them from him following an argument and altercation. Mr Hogan was stabbed through the heart and left to die on the pavement. We ask anyone who witnessed the sequence of events or anything suspicious to call us. We are particularly keen to speak to a passerby who stopped to help Mr Hogan prior to paramedics arriving. The man is described only as being white and carrying a rucksack which he placed under Mr Hogan’s head until help arrived'.

A 54-year old man that had been watching the Jubilee concert with his wife on the television said that he heard someone shouting at about 9.45pm. He said that the person was shouting, 'help', and 'get the police'.
