Scott Blyth was stabbed to death in a brawl outside the Buzz nightclub in Hinckley.
A 25-year-old was also seriously stabbed and taken to hospital but was later said to have been in a stable condition.
It was thought that his attackers were a gang from Coventry and Nuneaton area. At the time the police said that they were questioning a number of people.
His father was a former Coventry City goalkeeper.
