David Barrie Draycott was shot in his car outside his home on 7 October 2002 and died four days later in hospital on 11 October 2002.
He had just pulled up to his home in his black Mercedes car at about 9.15pm when he was shot ten times. He was shot in the chest and abdomen but managed to get to a neighbour's house where he was given first aid before being taken by ambulance to King's Mill hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Several arrests were made but no one was charged. In 2011 a man was extradited for drugs charges from Dubai to Spain who it was thought might have been involved in the murder of David Draycott and later in 2015 arrested in connection with his murder.
The police said, 'It is a savage cold-blooded killing where a man has been gunned down in his own driveway. It appears that Mr Draycott has been targeted, singled out and shot down in a quite deliberate attack on him and him in person. This is unusual which is why I say this appears at this point in time to be totally premeditated and totally aimed at this man rather than anyone else'.
David Draycott was married with children and was the former managing director of a sheet metal firm.
