Date: 12 Dec 2009
Grzegorz Witkowski disappeared without a trace in December 2009. In December 2013 the police said that they were treating his disappearance as murder.
He was last seen by a friend at 10.30pm on Saturday 12 December 2009 leaving a party in Bridlespur Way, Mowmacre. Shortly after he had spoken to his family in Poland on the Skype internet telephone. However, he had a doctors appointment for the following day which he failed to attend and was never seen again.
The police said that they were conducting the inquiry as a ‘no body murder’ investigation which meant that it received the same level of resources and time as any other murder investigation.
However, the police said that they had been unable to determine what had happened to him after he spoke to his relatives and said that they thought the answer lay in the local Polish community.
