The man that was tried had been a co-worker at a car wash at a garden centre in Tunbridge Wells. The police said that they found that both Kestutis Mickevicius's mobile phone and the man tried's mobile phone were traced to the place where Kestutis Mickevicius was found dead.

Kestutis Mickevicius was said to have been a regular visitor to a caravan in George's Yard where he would drink and was described as argumentative and unpredictable. He was also noted for having a swastika tattooed on one of his arms and to have demonstrated racist views.
