Alexander Stewart

Age: 49

Sex: male

Date: 19 Dec 2012

Place: Henfield Close, Archway, London

Alexander Stewart died following what was thought to have been a fight.

He was thought to have been involved in a fight of some sort in Archway between 6 December and 11 December 2012.

However, it was not known where the fight had taken place.

He had lived in Henfield Close, Archway.

A man who presented himself to a police station in north London shortly after Alexander Stewart's death was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail but later released without charge.

Alexander Stewart was admitted to hospital on 17 December 2012 suffering from chest injuries and died two days later on 19 December 2012. He had also been suffering from blood poisoning and had a fractured sternum and septicaemia.

The police were called to the hospital on Magdala Avenue in Archway after he died at 1.10am on 19 December 2012.

His cause of death was given as multiple organ failure and sepsis due to bilateral pneumonia due to a thoracic injury with sternal fracture.

It was thought that he had probably been punched or kicked although the police said that they were not ruling anything out.

His inquest revealed that he had been suffering from osteoporosis and had had a long-standing problem with alcohol and drugs.

The Coroner recorded an open verdict and said, 'Somebody out there knows exactly what happened to him and somebody knows that he was the victim of a fairly serious assault. My conclusion does not mean that nobody could ever be prosecuted for the assault'.
