Sajid Chishti was stabbed in the street by a gang of black youths.
A youth was tried for his murder but aquitted. The youth had admitted robbing Sajid Chishti but denied stabbing him.
Sajid Chishti was chased by a mob of youths who had just left a fun fair in Valentine's Park and who were running wild in the street and stealing from shops. When the mob saw Sajid Chishti they chased him and he was punched to the ground and had his jacket, mobile phone and £40 stolen. When he stood up after the assault he was stabbed in the back with a 6-inch knife.
The knife was never found.
