Gamal Fares George Mallwi

Age: 44

Sex: male

Date: 29 Nov 2003

Place: Thaxton Road, West Kensington, London

Gamal Mallwi was shot as he was getting into a car in Thaxton Road near the junction with North End Road in West Kensington on 28 November 2003 at about 8.30pm.

He was hit in the stomach and chest and taken to hospital where he later died.

After the shooting, a man was seen running away from the scene.

Gamal Mallwi had been with his 36-year-old brother at the time who was also hit, but survived, although he later went back to Egypt.

A 30-year old man was arrested in December 2003 but no charges were made.

The police said that they were keeping an open mind over why he was shot although it was reported that it had been part of an on-going feud. It was heard that he had previously been shot in the same street seven months earlier.

Gamal Mallwi had run the Lighthouse Fish Bar on North End Road which was close to where he was shot.

He was born in Egypt and had lived in West Brompton, west London and had a 7-year-old daughter.

He had been known locally as George.
