Richard Ismail

Age: 45

Sex: male

Date: 22 Nov 2013

Place: Lloyds No 1 Bar, Division Street, Sheffield

Richard Ismail died a year after he was injured in a fight outside the Lloyds No 1 Bar in Division Street, Sheffield.

He was attacked in the early hours of Remembrance Sunday, 11 November 2012, at around 12.30am. He was treated by paramedics at the scene but later died on 22 November 2013. He was initially taken to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital where his condition was initially described as critical but stable.

At the time of the attack, a 19-year-old man and another man, 24-years-old, were arrested for assault, but no one was ever charged over his death.

He was thought to have been out with his family at the time for a night out.

His post-mortem said that his death was connected to the injury that he had received in the attack.

Whilst in hospital he had spent months in a coma and was later treated at the Stocksbridge Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre on Haywood Lane in Deepcar where he received intense treatment to try to reknit his brain and memory.

He was known as Moody and had worked as a computer numerically controlled machinist. He had also been a keen Leeds United fan and many footballers in the team wore ribbons in support of him whilst he was in hospital.

After his death, the Chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Trust said that they were going to discuss making a contribution to support his family.
