Anton Jermaine Hyman

Age: 17

Sex: male

Date: 21 Mar 2004

Place: River Brent, Greenford

Anton Hyman was shot, stabbed and beaten before being thrown in to the River Brent in Greenford, west London. His body was found on 21 March 2004.

Ten people were arrested in relation to his murder but no one was charged.

He was last seen on the evening of Saturday 20 March 2004 at about 8pm between Greenford Avenue and Brent Valley Park in Hanwell. He had also been seen that night getting into a cab on his own outside a KFC restaurant in Ealing Broadway.

He was about 5ft 6in tall, slim and had been wearing bright multi-coloured gloves, blue and white Timberland boots, dark jeans, a dark grey fleece, a green t-shirt and a green shirt with the word 'Iceberg' written on its breast pocket.

He was found the following morning at about 11am face down in the River Brent near High Lane in Greenford.

His post-mortem stated that he had died from a stab wound to the heart. He had also been shot in the back and had his throat slashed.

It was thought that he had been murdered later on the night of 20 March 2004. When he was found he still had his mobile phone on him as well as cash and so robbery was ruled out as a motive.

He had been shot with a homemade .22 calibre bullet. It was said that the knife that had been used had been about 4.5 inches long. It was said that the assault against him had been prolonged and not a quick fight.

Police said that there had been a wall of silence.

The police confirmed that Anton Hyman had a criminal record but said that he was not a serious offender. They said that he was not thought to have been a major player in any criminal networks or been involved with drugs. The police said that they didn't think that the attack had been random.

Anton Hyman was unemployed.
