Age: 18

Sex: male

Date: 22 Aug 2014

Place: Croxley View, Holywell Housing Estate, Watford

Aqeel Khan was stabbed to death in Croxley View, on the Holywell Housing Estate on 22 August 2014.

A youth, who was 16-years-old at the time, was charged with his murder but acquitted.

The youth denied stabbing Aqeel Khan, said that he wasn't there when he was stabbed and said that he didn't know who did stab him.

It was heard in court that there had been bad feelings between the youth and some other young men and that on the afternoon of 22 August 2014 the youth had clashed with the other young men near a parade of shops in Tolpits Lane. It was said that the youth had swung a sports bag at the young men and thrown a stone at one of them. It was also heard that one of the young men in the group had struck out at the youth with his belt.

It was heard that Aqeel Khan arrived at the scene just as the violence then flared up, and was possibly hit, and the youth was then chased into Croxley View by the young men, including Aqeel Khan.

It was said then that as Aqeel Khan, who was leading the chase, closed in on the youth he stabbed him. Aqeel Khan then fell to the ground.

A woman said that she saw Aqeel Khan chasing the youth and then saw then throwing punches at each other but said that she didn't see either of them make contact. She said then that Aqeel Khan dropped to the floor.

He had been stabbed between his shoulder blades, piercing his left lung and cutting a major artery.

He was stabbed outside the entrance to Westfield Academy in Croxley View on the estate.

Aqeel Khan was then taken to Watford General Hospital but he died soon after.
