Adeel Akabar was beaten to death at a house.

Seven people were cleared of his murder at the Old Bailey in September 2004.

He died after a group of about 15 men stormed the house that he was in at 10.30pm. They had been armed with guns and baseball bats.

The police were called after reports of gun shots were reported to them. They found Adeel Akabar at the property at 10.30pm and he was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital but died the following morning at 5am on 8 October 2003.

Several other people at the house were treated for injuries.

Adeel Akabar had been a security guard and a part-time builder. It was thought that he had been beaten to death in a case of mistaken identity. He was fitting in some building and decorating work into his spare time while he worked seven nights a week as a security guard in Canning Town.

He had been at the house, late on, carrying out some work. It was thought that when the gang went into the house they had assumed that he was one of their targets.

The attack was said to have been related to a family feud that had broken out when a woman had left her husband and started a new life. the gang that had attacked the house were said to have been associated with the husband in the feud.

Most of the other people in the house were relatively uninjured. Shots were fired, but no one was hit.
