Emma Alice Smith vanished in 1926.
She was last seen cycling to a train station in Horam to go to work in Tunbridge Wells where she worked as a maid although it was later suggested that she didn't work in Tunbridge Wells but locally.
Her body was never found or any trace of her heard of again.
In 2009 the case was re-opened after her great-nephew went to the police to tell them that a dying man had confessed to murdering her and that he had then dumped her body on a local pond.
However, in 2011 it was reported that she was thought to have eloped in 1928 to Ireland to avoid a scandal and that the case was considered closed.
