June Thrussell was found strangled on her sofa at her home in Pedley Road, Dagenham.
A man was tried for her murder but acquitted. The man tried for her murder was a convicted murderer that had lived a few doors away with his father and who had done odd jobs for her. It was heard that he had stabbed a previous neighbour to death in 1975 after cleaning her windows. The court was told that there were so many similar features with the murder and the 1973 murder that it was impossible that the man could not be guilty. June Thrussell had also given the man the keys to her house which were later found in some bushes.
