June Thrussell

Age: 56

Sex: female

Date: 17 Jun 2005

Place: Pedley Road, Dagenham, Essex

June Thrussell was found strangled on her sofa at her home in Pedley Road, Dagenham.

A man was tried for her murder but acquitted. The man tried for her murder was a convicted murderer that had lived a few doors away with his father and who had done odd jobs for her. It was heard that he had stabbed a previous neighbour to death in 1975 after cleaning her windows. The court was told that there were so many similar features with the murder and the 1973 murder that it was impossible that the man could not be guilty. June Thrussell had also given the man the keys to her house which were later found in some bushes.

She was found on 17 June 2005 after a work colleague had reported her as having been missing for three days. She was last seen leaving work at 5pm from Valentine's House, Ilford Hill in Ilford on 14 June 2005. The police said that they were interested in speaking to anyone that had seen her after 5pm on the day she was last seen and said that her usual route home was by rail from Ilford to Chadwell Heath station, from where she had walked home to Pedley Road.

June Thrussell had been tied up and cash was missing from her house. There were no signs of forced entry. When she was found her curtains were drawn and her car was parked outside.

June Thrussell had been an insurance company secretary with a company in Ilford and had lived alone.

She had been married but had separated from her husband years earlier. They had worked at the same insurance company for 19 years.

It was said that June Thrussell had had several relationships since then including one with a Tunisian who had lived with her for several years but the police said that they had ruled him out of the inquiry.
