Paul Daly

Age: 35

Sex: male

Date: 9 Apr 2006

Place: Reedham Gardens, Penn, Wolverhampton

Paul Daly was found dead at his home in Reedham Gardens in Penn.

He had been stabbed once in the chest.

He was found at about 8.30am on Sunday 9 April 2006 by his 18-year-old step-daughter sitting upright on a settee in his living room with a cigarette in his right hand and a mobile phone in his left hand. He had a kitchen knife sticking out of his chest.

A partial finger print was found on the knife blade but the police said that they could not determine whose it was.

It was heard that Paul Daly had threatened to kill himself for years and his stepdaughter said that she had seen him attempt to cut his own wrists, however, his sister said that she refused to believe that he had committed suicide.

It was also heard that Paul Daly was a heavy drinker and that he was subject to outbursts of violence.

He had lived in Reedham Gardens with his partner and their two children as well as another two children from his partners previous relationship.

His partner said that she had left home with her two children on the Friday evening, two days before Paul Daly was found dead. She said that he had smashed an ashtray against a wall and also threatened to burn the house down.

At his inquest, an open verdict was returned. The Coroner said that there was no evidence of any history of self-inflicted wounds.
