Mohammed Saeed was stabbed to death near his home in Clodeshall Road, Washwood Heath at about 4.15am on 24 April 2002.

He was stabbed repeatedly in the stomach after being ambushed.

He was declared dead at the scene after collapsing in front of his wife and children.

Police said that they wanted to speak to one of his nephews who soon after fled to Pakistan. It was said that the nephew, after arriving in Pakistan, became involved with jihadists and Al Qaeda and later became involved in planning attacks on Britain. He was said to have been the Pakistani handler for the men that carried out the London bombings on 7 July 2005 and having been involved with other plots.

It was said that the nephew later died in October 2012 in a US drone strike.
