Colin Michael Murphy was attacked outside his home during a robbery and died later in hospital.
He was a wealthy businessman and his killers got away with about £3,000.
He was attacked by two masked men after he got back in the early hours of the morning from a Manchester casino. It was said that he had had a shotgun pushed into his chin that had torn his skin and had then been clubbed in the throat with it.
He was taken to hospital, but his injuries caused him to choke to death 28 hours later due to internal bleeding.
Colin Murphy described his attackers as being in their early 20's to mid 30's and having worn black balaclavas, black gloves and three-quarter length coats.
He was described as a 25 stone flamboyant homosexual.
