George Edward Willis was murdered in his home in Torridge Gardens, Rye Hill Park, Peckham.

He was found dead on 6 October 2005. He was last seen on 28 September 2005 and the police said that they were interested in speaking to anyone that had seen him during that period.

He had been tied up and the post-mortem stated that he had died from head injuries.

George Willis's flying jacket and bus pass were missing.

He had been seen arguing with a young man on his doorstep on 28 September 2005 at about 10pm, which was the last day he was seen alive. The man was described as being white, slim, with dark scruffy hair and aged in his mid to late 20s, and the police said that they were interested in speaking to him.

The police later said that they thought that he might have been killed because he often gave his money away to strangers in order to make friends. They also suggested that he might have been killed by homophobic lunatics who had assume that he was gay because of his bachelor status.
