Floarea Nicolae

Age: 20

Sex: female

Date: 1 Jun 2014

Place: Grove Street, Upper Edmonton, London

Floarea Nicolae was stabbed in Grove Street, Edmonton on 1 June 2014 around midnight.

She was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

She died from a single stab wound to the stomach.

The police later arrested a 38-year-old woman and a 47-year-old woman. They later charged the 47-year-old woman with murder on 6 June 2014 and she was sent to trial at the Old Bailey on 5 December 2014 but was acquitted on 18 December 2014.

At the trial it was heard that the 47-year-old woman had called the police twelve times in ten months before the murder to report prostitutes in the nearby streets.

The 47-year-old woman had lived on Langhedge Lane in Edmonton.

The prosecution had said that shortly before the attack, the 47-year-old woman had left her house with a knife and gone to the junction of Fore Street and Grove Street to talk to Floarea Nicolae. After talking to Floarea Nicolae, the 47-year-old woman was then said to have gone off to a BP petrol garage nearby where she bought some cigarettes and had then gone back to see Floarea Nicolae and then stabbed her in the stomach. The 47-year-old woman was then said to have gone off back home.

The 47-year-old woman handed herself in to the police two days later and said, 'I may have stabbed someone'. However, she later made a full statement in which she denied stabbing anyone adding that she had been confused at the time because of her medication.

Floarea Nicolae had been a Romanian national and a sex worker.
