Reginald Penny

Age: 65

Sex: male

Date: 17 Aug 2003

Place: Druidstone Road, Old St Mellons, Cardiff

Reginald Penny was found dead at his home by relative at 8.50pm.

The police said that his death was suspicious. He was a wealthy businessman and it was thought that he might have been murdered because of his business dealings. He was a financial adviser and moneylender.

He was getting divorced at the time and his house, which was on what was known as millionaire’s row in Cardiff, was on the market for £750,000.

Although there were no external marks of violence on his body and the cause of death could not be determined at the time, it was said that the police had reason to think that he had not been alone when he died.

It was thought that he might have been a victim of a grudge attack and that his business dealings might have brought him enemies.

The Daily Express reported on the 18 August 2003 that he had been found at his luxury home in a pool of blood although Wales Online states that the Home Office pathologist reported that there were no external injuries and that his cause of death had not been ascertained at that time.
