James Nutley

Age: 25

Sex: male

Date: 24 Oct 2004

Place: Tenby, Pembrokeshire

James Nutley vanished while on holiday in Tenby, Pembrokeshire.

He had gone to Tenby with some friends to play golf, arriving between 5pm and 5.30pm on 24 October 2004.He was later seen at about 11.40pm leaving the Prince of Wales pub in Upper Frog Street. He was last seen in CCTV footage at 11.57pm as he crossed the road going towards the Atlantic Hotel.

The following day, 25 October 2004, his friends reported him missing.

His belongings were found later that evening on South Beach in Tenby by some children playing, directly below the Clarence Hotel on The Esplanade. They included his driving licence, national insurance card, Euro golf card and Paddy Power bookmakers' card. However, there was no evidence to indicate that they had been washed up by the sea.

The night he had disappeared had been stormy with gale-force winds. The police and the coast guard spent the next eight days searching the coastline, beaches and buildings for him but found nothing.

During the evening, he had gone to several pubs including The Lifeboat Inn on Tudor Square, The Three Mariners on George Street and The Prince of Wales on Upper Frog Street where he was last seen.

He was 6ft 2ins tall, had brown hair, and had been wearing a white top with blue sleeves and blue jeans when he vanished.

In 2006 a man was convicted for making a false confession to his murder saying that he had killed James Nutley and then thrown him off of Stack Rocks, Pembrokeshire. However, the times in his story didn't make sense and he later pleaded guilty to trying to pervert the course of justice and was jailed for 27 months.
