John Devine was stabbed to death in a park.
His body was found in bushes near to Keppochhill Road, Springburn.
After his dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, stayed with him for about three or four days before going back home where a neighbour found it.
He was last seen entering the park with his dog on 10 July 2007 between 10.30pm and 10.45pm. His body was found on 16 July 2007. It was not known whether he had been murdered on 10 July 2007 or whether he had gone home and come back another day and murdered on that later date.
It was thought that he might have been seen walking with his dog on 11 July 2007 when a car was seen to brake sharply for someone that might have been John Devine.
The police took over 1000 statements.
