Redwan El-Ghaidouni

Age: 38

Sex: male

Date: 3 Feb 2015

Place: Vine Lane, Hillingdon, Middlesex

Redwan El-Ghaidouni was shot outside his house on the drive.

His murder was said to have been a professional hit. The police said that they thought that his murder might have been due to a long-running gangland feud over drugs or debts. He was said to have had huge debts following a previous drugs conviction and the subsequent confiscation of his assets by the police.

He had been sitting in his Audi A3 car on his driveway at the time when a man wearing a dark hooded top came up and fired eight shots at him through his car window and then ran off. Redwan El-Ghaidouni had just got home from work when he was shot.

The police were called shortly before 7pm and Redwan El-Ghaidouni was declared dead at the scene shortly before 8pm after paramedics tried for an hour to resuscitate him.

Redwan El-Ghaidouni had recently been released from prison in 2014 after serving eight years for his role in an international drug smuggling operation. He had been arrested during an operation by the Metropolitan Police's middle market drugs team who were investigating the importation of cannabis and cannabis resin into the UK and had been convicted at Kingston Crown Court in March 2011.

Two men that were in prison at the time of his murder were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder but nothing more is known of the charges. Six men were arrested in total in relation to the murder.

The man that was seen to shoot Redwan El-Ghaidouni was also caught on CCTV in several places. He had been wearing a dark hooded top with a large motif on the front, light bottoms, dark gloves and dark shoes. The man had also been seen standing outside Redwan El-Ghaidouni's house about an hour before the murder.

The suspect was also seen in CCTV footage in Saunders Road on 31 January 2015 and 2 February 2015.

After firing the shots, the man had run off through an alleyway to Saunders Road and into Dowding Road.

Redwan El-Ghaidouni had been out of prison for about seven months at the time of his murder and had been working full-time at a car dealership. He had three children. He was born in Morocco.

Redwan El-Ghaidouni was noted as being the first British criminal to have had his assets confiscated following an application by the Crown Prosecution Service in a crackdown on the proceeds of crime. Redwan El-Ghaidouni had owned a luxury holiday flat in Dubai on the 49th floor of the Torh Tower worth £417,031 which was seized on their behalf by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates in August 2014. The apartment was described as being the epitome of high living and with having spectacular views over the marina and its moored luxury yachts.

He was known to friends as 'Reds'.
