Duke Of Cumberland said that he had gone to be in the night and was woken by someone attacking him with his saber. He said he then ran out of his room and to the room of his page and by then his assailant had dropped the sword in the corridor and vanished.

When he sent for his valet he discovered that his valet was in his room with his throat cut.
