Age: 30

Sex: male

Date: 23 Aug 1904

Place: Garretts Lane, Old Hill

Johnathan Sefton died about nine days after being assaulted.

He had been brought into the hospital unconscious on the Saturday and died before recovering consciousness.

His relatives said that he had been assaulted by some unknown persons on 13 August 1904 and had been in a state of coma ever since.

He had earlier quarrelled with two brothers and had fought a few rounds with one of them. However, the brother that he had been fighting left saying that he wanted no bother but said that Johnathan Sefton had followed him and hit him again and that the brother had then turned and felled Johnathan Sefton who sustained a fractured skull.

The jury returned a verdict of 'Death from misadventure'.

Johnathan Sefton  had been a labourer.
