An infant was found dead on a railway line.

The child had three stab wounds and was found on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway.

Two stab wounds were found in the throat and one over the heart.

The child, who was wrapped up in a fine cashmere shawl, was thought to have then been thrown from an express train.

The medical evidence given stated that the child had only been alive for about 24 hours and was stabbed while it was alive.
