Mary Ann Worsman was found drowned in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal near Bingley close to Swine Bridge at Morton.
She had been a domestic servant.
She was discovered after a man that had been walking along the towing path saw a bundle or heap of something quite close to the bridge which was covered in cocoanut matting and what portions the mat didn't cover was covered by grass. When he examined it he found a set of female clothing, a hat, jacket, dress, underclothing, shoes, stocking, umbrella and hair pins.
He then informed the police who then started to drag the canal at that point. The next day they found her body.
It was noted that she had no trouble in her situation or outside.
