Place: Padbrooke Farm
George Baker was found drowned in a pond near Padbrooke Farm.
His fiance said that they were due to be married the following Monday and that they had not had any quarrels. She said she last saw him leave her father's house in Trinity at 4am on the Tuesday morning in his usual spirits and assumed that he was off to work as a waggoner.
A man with whom George Baker lodged with in Colebrooke Lane said that he last saw him on the Monday saying that he was off to Exmouth.
A doctor said that if a man exerted himself he could have cleared himself from the pond referred to.
