William Gordon was found washed up on the beach.
He had been living at the Little George on Marylebone Street in Southsea and was a carter.
He was found washed up on the beach between Paulsgrove and Wymering just off the road to Cosham fully dressed with his hat on.
When his son last saw him he said that he was going to work and had mentioned that he had to go to Portchester on business.
His daughter said that she last saw him on the Saturday afternoon and said that he had never had any money troubles and that he had said that he was going to Paulsgrove to collect some money from a gentleman.
When he was found there was no money or any receipt on his body and his body was quite warm. He had been lying on his face but the upper part of his body was not very wet.
