A baby was found in the Leeds and Liverpool canal at Wigan.
The inquest was opened on 21 June 1906 but adjourned for three weeks in order that every effort be made to trace the parents although it was concluded on 31 May 1906 with the verdict of murder against some person or persons unknown.
The child was a newly born female child and was found floating in the water naked.
The post mortem examination proved that the child had had a separate existence.
