A newly born child was found in a ditch at Waxholme.

It was stated that the death had been caused by violence.

The body was found by a farm labourer who was cleaning out a dyke bottom at what was known as Waxhole Cut, half a mile North of Withernsea.

The decomposed body of the fully developed male child had been wrapped up in a print cloth and then wrapped up in brown paper.
