Reginald Field Riley was found dead in a field.
He had returned home from school and then gone out to collect flowers for his mother but was never seen alive again.
His body was found about 30 minutes later under a hedge with a deep stab wound in the nape of the neck. The wound was caused by a sharp knife or chisel and had severed his spinal cord. There was also a wound on his temple although there was no sign of a struggle.
No weapon was found and no strangers or suspicious people were seen.
He had lived at 74 Westminster Road in Morecambe.
His father had been the foreman of Heysham Harbour.
