John Wright

Age: 32

Sex: male

Date: 25 Nov 1900

Place: Stockwell Road, Stockwell, London

John Wright was killed in Stockwell.

Two dealers were tried for his manslaughter but the evidence against them was deemed insufficient and they were discharged.

He died in Lambeth Infirmary from concussion of the brain, coma and paralysis.

He had been assaulted by two men who had knocked him down and he had struck his head on a kerbstone.

The court heard that the two men had had words with John Wright on the Stockwell Road and then punched him in the head, face and body causing him to fall.

He was picked up by the police and taken to the Lambeth Infirmary where he died the next morning.
