The body of a new born child was found in a basket in the first class carriage of a train from Leeds at the Paragon Station in Hull.
The basket was found carefully tied by a carriage cleaner. There was no label on it and it was taken to the left luggage office where it remained for some days until it began emitting a foul odour and was opened.
When the basket was opened they found the body of the infant wrapped up in a lady’s mackintosh and weighed down with a couple of bricks.
