William Thomas Pugh was stabbed in Lord Street.
Two people were tried but acquitted.
William Pugh's wife said that a man had challenged her husband to a fight and said that she saw him strike a blow at her husband and say, 'I told you I would do it on you'.
William Pugh's son said that the man and a woman with him were armed with pokers at the beginning of the disturbance and that later he saw the man draw something shiny from his side and almost immediately his father exclaimed, 'I'm stabbed'.
The police said that they later searched the man's house and found a knife which appeared to be bloodstained.
