Xiong Zhang died from a head injury after being robbed on a tow path on the River Roding on 19 July 2007.
He was an illegal immigrant from China and sold counterfeit DVD's.
He had been selling DVDs in the area earlier and when he was found they were missing.
He was found by two plain clothes police officers on the path between the River Roding and Hertford Road on 19 July 2007.
He was taken to a hospital and treated for a brain injury but later lost consciousness and died on 27 July 2007.
Police said that they were interested in speaking to a black youth that had been seen in the area on a bicycle.
Xiong Zhang had lived in Hackney.
