Baby

Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 15 Jun 1910

Place: Derby Canal, Proctors Mill, Nottingham Road

A dismembered baby was found in a box in the Derby Canal.

The child had two skull fractures and its legs had been severed with a sharp instrument. The legs were not found.

The childs body had then been placed in a box and tied up with string and then put in a net bag and thrown into the canal.

It was thought that the legs had been removed because the box had been too small to fit all of it in.

The head injuries were said to have been caused by a hammer.
