Date: 22 Jun 1995
Christine McGovern was found dead in her flat.
She had been strangled.
She was a known sex worker, but it was thought that she was murdered by someone she knew. She had a Rottweiler dog and there were no signs of a forced entry.
Her flat had been ransacked and amongst the things stolen were a video recorder, decoder, gold rings and a gold necklace with a St Christopher's pendant.
She was last seen alive at about 6.30pm on 21 June 1995 in Hamilton Road, outside her house. Her dog was later heard barking at about 11pm by her neighbours.
She was found dead in her house, naked, the next day by a friend at about 12 noon. Her spine had been broken and she had a broken nose and severe bruising. However, her post-mortem gave the cause of death as asphyxiation.
It was later suggested in 2013 in the Camden New Journal that she might have been murdered by a man that had since been convicted of several other murders.
