Frances Ann Mansfield was found dead in the Ashby Canal at Spring Cottage on the afternoon of Monday 30 October 1911.
She had left home on 15 October 1911 saying that she was going to listen to a Salvation Army Band.
She was of a cheerful disposition, but reserved and had no illness and was not having a love affair.
Her father said that he could not account for her going to Spring Cottage.
She had lived in Church Gresley.
